Volunteer OPPORTUNITIES

There are a number of year-long PTO Board positions that need volunteers. These are year-long commitments that require a regular time commitment.   There are a few roles that we are still looking to fill. 


All positions are listed below.

Each class needs a volunteer that will work directly with their teacher to help the classroom run efficiently and smoothly.  

Some things you might do as a Homeroom Helper:

-Help organize classroom events/needs

-Coordinate classroom volunteers

-Serve as the point person for PTO questions/direct parents to PTO board representatives for questions they need answers to

-Create sign-up genius forms

No artistic experience needed!  This program provides you with a curriculum to share a love of art with the kids. Work in the classroom delivering a pre-created art lesson about a specific artist and then complete an art project of your choosing with the class.

Community events and staff appreciation are consistently in need of volunteers preparing for and executing events and staff appreciation activities.   Volunteers can choose how much time to commit.

OPEN pto BOARD POSITIONS

Secretary

Position Summary:


The Madison Heights PTO Secretary plays a vital role in ensuring smooth communication and accurate documentation within the Madison Heights Parent-Teacher Organization. This position is ideal for someone organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about supporting the school community.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Meeting Documentation
    • Record and maintain accurate minutes of all PTO meetings (includes, but not limited to monthly Executive Board meetings and General PTO meetings)
    • Distribute meeting minutes to board members and general PTO members within 48 hours
    • Keep track of attendance and quorum requirements
    • Responsible for documentation of PTO activities
    • Official collector of all reports, handouts, etc. for each meeting 
  • Communication
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for PTO correspondence
    • Prepare and send out PTO calendar invites, announcements and reminders 2-3 days prior to meetings
    • Maintain and update PTO bulletin boards (front entrance and 1-4th grade entrance), PTO website, email lists, and social media (if applicable)
  • Record Keeping
    • Maintain official PTO records including bylaws, meeting agendas, minutes, and correspondence
    • Organize and archive historical documents for future reference
  • Support & Coordination
    • Support an assigned committee chair
    • Assist with planning and organizing PTO events and fundraisers
    • Collaborate with other board members to ensure smooth operations
    • Help coordinate volunteer efforts and maintain sign-up sheets


Skills and Qualifications:


  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in fundraising, marketing, or event planning  is a plus, but not necessary
  • Ability to work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and community members
  • Proficiency in using basic office software and social media platforms


Time Commitment:


Time commitment - entire school year ~ 10-12 hours a month

Fundraising Chair

Position Summary:


The PTO Fundraising Chair is responsible for organizing and overseeing all fundraising activities for the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). This role requires creativity, strong organizational skills, and effective communication to ensure the success of fundraising initiatives that support school programs, events, and resources.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Plan and Execute Fundraisers: Develop and implement a variety of fundraising activities throughout the school year, including events, product sales, and online campaigns.
  • Coordinate Volunteers: Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to assist with fundraising efforts.
  • Budget Management: Work with the PTO Treasurer to establish and adhere to fundraising budgets, track expenses, and ensure funds are allocated appropriately.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Create marketing materials, manage communications, and promote fundraising events through various channels (e.g., newsletters, social media, school website).
  • Community Engagement: Foster relationships with local businesses, sponsors, and community members to secure donations and sponsorships.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates to the PTO board on the progress of fundraising activities and present final reports on each fundraiser's outcomes.
  • Compliance: Ensure all fundraising activities comply with school policies, local regulations, and nonprofit guidelines.

Eddie the Eagle

Position Summary:


Dress up as Eddie the Eagle for a maximum of 20 minutes during the Super Citizen Awards at 5:30 p.m. prior to the monthly PTO Meetings.  Eddie will help present the Super Citizen Awards and pose for pictures.  


Time Commitment:

 Attendance at 5:30 p.m.  prior to monthly PTO meetings (3rd Thursday of the month) is required.

pizza pickup

If you work or live in or near Scottsdale, the PTO needs someone to pick up pizzas that are donated for our monthly PTO meeting on the 3rd Thursday of each month.  Pizzas need to arrive by 6:00 p.m.


Time Commitment:

Pick up pizza in Scottsdale and deliver to Madison Heights prior to monthly PTO meetings (3rd Thursday of the month).

Spanish Immersion Chair

Position Summary:


The PTO Spanish Immersion Chair is responsible for supporting and promoting the Spanish Immersion program within the school. This role involves organizing cultural events, fostering community engagement, and acting as a liaison between the Spanish Immersion program and the PTO.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Event Planning: Organize and coordinate cultural events and activities that celebrate and support the Spanish Immersion program.
  • Community Engagement: Foster a sense of community among Spanish Immersion families and encourage participation in program activities.
  • Communication: Act as a liaison between the Spanish Immersion program and the PTO, providing updates and promoting program initiatives.
  • Resource Support: Assist in identifying and securing resources, such as educational materials and guest speakers, to enhance the Spanish Immersion experience.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for the needs and goals of the Spanish Immersion program within the school community and the PTO.


Skills and Qualifications:


  • Passion for bilingual education and cultural exchange
  • Strong organizational and event planning skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and administrators
  • Proficiency in Spanish (preferred but not required)


Time Commitment:


This is a volunteer position with a variable time commitment, depending on the number and scale of planned activities. Attendance at monthly PTO meetings and participation in major events is expected.
